Donna attended grade school at Oxford #6 and #7, and high school in Hazel as a freshman and sophomore before transferring to Thomas for her junior year. She graduated from Hazel High School in 1947 and then attended summer school in Madison, SD, where she received her teaching certificate. Donna taught school for 16 months at Oxford rural school until she was approached by Dr. Randall from Watertown who offered her a position at the Watertown Clinic to become a lab and x-ray technician, where she worked until 1952. She then moved to Sioux Falls, SD where she worked for five years.
On June 20, 1958, Donna married the love of her life, Leroy Hogstad, at New Hope Lutheran Church. They lived on a farm north of Wallace until 1979. While living on the farm she was the church organist for St. Pauli Lutheran Church for many years. In 1979 the couple moved to Arizona, returning to Watertown in 1981. Leroy passed away on January 8, 1989.
She enjoyed her retirement to the fullest by socializing with friends and family, quilting, crocheting and sewing. In April of 2006 Donna moved to Sioux Falls to be near her children.
