Dorothy Paulsen Obituary
Dorothy M. Paulsen, age 88, of Hazel, SD, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at a local care center. She was the widow of Harold Paulsen. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017, at First United Methodist Church in Watertown, SD. Rev. Sara Nelson will officiate. Music will be provided by Lesa Dahl as organist with LeeAnn Maag as soloist. The family is requested to meet by 10:30 a.m. at the church on Friday for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Thursday, April 13, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Friday.
Burial will be at Lorinda Cemetery, rural Henry, SD. Active pallbearers will be Dorothy's grandchildren: Scott Roblewsky, Erica Schultz, Jerard Paulsen, Christian Roblewsky, Rebecca Paulsen, Sarah Vergeldt, Jennifer Briggs, Matthew Robinson, Kyle Robinson, Adam Paulsen and her great-grandchild, Brodie Robinson.
Dorothy was born on June 10, 1928, to Agner and Bessie (Deuchler) Oleson, in Willow Lake, SD. She was a graduate of Henry High School.
On October 3, 1948, Dorothy was united in marriage to Harold Paulsen in Watertown. They made their home on a farm in the Hazel, SD area. They continued to live on different farms in the Hazel and Henry area. After Harold's death in 1992, Dorothy continued to make her home on the farm until moving to Benet Place in 2010.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Watertown. She enjoyed gardening, raising chickens and milking cows.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Michael (Joyce) Paulsen of Henry, SD, Linda (Pat) Roblewsky of Omaha, NE, Steve (Beverly) Paulsen of Hazel, SD and Virginia (Brian) Robinson of Watertown, SD; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Donald (Joyce) Oleson of Watertown, SD and Darrell (LaVonne) Oleson of Owatonna, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her grandson, Shaun Robinson; her parents; and her sister, Delores Spenst.
