Douglas Dahl Obituary
Douglas Lyle "Doug" Dahl, age 73, of Tea, SD, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Pastor Steve Biswell will officiate. Visitation will take place prior to services at the chapel on Saturday.
Burial will be at Hidewood Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in rural Brandt, SD.
Pallbearers will be James Dahl, Travis Dahl, Tyler Dahl, Courtney Dahl, Larry Dahl and Marty Stemwedel.
Doug was born on January 3, 1945, in Milbank, SD, to Elmer and Dorothy (Keat) Dahl. He lived with his parents and siblings on a farm north of Stockholm, SD. Doug attended grade school in Stockholm and Watertown High School in Watertown, SD. He married Betty Olson.
Doug moved to Jamestown, ND, where he worked in a Singer sewing machine store for eight years.
He then moved to Yankton, SD, for two years before moving to Tea, SD.
Doug opened the Singer sewing machine store in Sioux Falls, SD, where he was the owner and operator for 32 years before retiring in July 2017. He was extremely proud of all the years he worked for Singer, as well as all the awards and trips he won.
Doug is survived by one brother, Wallace (Judy) Dahl, of Watertown; one sister, LaVonne Selchert, of South Shore, SD; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Chad; his parents; one brother, Maurice Dahl; and a brother-in-law, George Selchert.
