Eddie Goodwin Obituary
Eddie R. Goodwin, age 66, of Watertown, SD, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017, as the result of an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2017, at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD. Pastor Jared Jordan will officiate. The family is requested to meet at the church on Friday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service.
Visitation will be at the Crawford- Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Friday.
Burial will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie's grandsons and the members of ABATE. Active pallbearers will be Forrest Grimes, Craig Matteson, Spencer Krommendyk, Dale Krommendyk, Gary Suman, Bernard Boadwine, Adam Hopkins and Pete Waege.
Eddie was born June 2, 1950, in Mt. Vernon, WA, to Lawrence and Winifred M. (Max) Goodwin.
He graduated from Arlington High School in 1969.
Following graduation, Eddie was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served during the Vietnam War. He later moved to Mesa, AZ.
On June 15, 1980, Eddie married LaRae Schultz in Mesa, AZ.
In 1987, the couple moved back to South Dakota.
LaRae passed away in 1992.
In 1994, Eddie moved to Watertown and began working at the Watertown Public Opinion as a press operator in ing and graphics.
He recently retired a couple months ago.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown.
Eddie enjoyed making model cars, playing pool, and motorcycles, especially Harley Davidsons.
He was a member of ABATE.
Eddie loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
Eddie is survived by his children: Sarah Goodwin, Jesse Goodwin and Ashley Goodwin, all of Watertown; one brother, Kevin Richter, of Aberdeen, SD; two sisters, Dolly Fischer of Watertown and Tammy Goodwin of Browns Valley, MN; his mother-in-law, Eunice Schultz, of Sioux Falls, SD; and three grandsons, Stephen, Ayden and Brayden.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LaRae; his parents; and two brothers, Larry "Buster" Goodwin and Rusty Goodwin.
