Ellanora Schuelke Obituary
Ellanora Louisa Schuelke, age 90, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015, at the hospital in Watertown.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Watertown.
Reverend Stephen Bailey will officiate.
Music will be provided by Tia Fellberg as soloist accompanied by Bruce Reinhardt as organist.
The family is requested to meet at the church on Wednesday by 1:30 p.m. for a prayer service.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and in the church on Wednesday prior to services.
Burial will be at Thomas Cemetery in Thomas, SD.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of Ellanora's grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Brad Tesch, Virgil Cordell, Tyler Halvorson, Rick Cartney, Cole Schuelke, and Shayne Schuelke.
Ellanora was born on May 16, 1925, in Sisseton, SD, to Thomas and Alvina (Winters) Redwing. She graduated from Flandreau Indian School and continued her CNA training there.
She worked at the Wheel Inn.
On April 16, 1962, Ellanora married William Schuelke in Minnesota.
The couple farmed South West of Watertown for many years.
William passed away in 1982 and Ellanora continued to make home on their farm.
She later moved with her daughter Sharon to their home in Castlewood, SD, for the past few years.
She was a member of the Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and First Congregational Church of Christ in Watertown.
Ellanora enjoyed square dancing, knitting, quilting, crocheting, cooking, watching the baby calves on the farm, and reading.
Ellanora is survived by five sons: August Tesch of Salem, OR, Glenn Tesch of Henry, SD, Timothy (Pat) Tesch of Watertown, Chuck (Marlene) Schuelke of Willow Lake, SD, and Pete (Laura) Schuelke of Ringsted, MN; three daughters: Sharon (Vincent) Cordell of Castlewood, Diane (Ken) Cartney of Aberdeen, SD, and Margaret Ann (Al) Halvorson of Brookings, SD; 25 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildre; one great-great grandchild; three brothers: Thomas (Hilda) Redwing of Shakopee, MN, Virgil (Mary Alice) Redwing of Shakopee, MN, and Bobby Redwing of CA; one sister, Laura (John) Larson of Altamont, SD; and one sister-in-law, Carol Redwing of Watertown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, one son, Melvin "Sunny" Tesch; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; three brothers; and one sister.
