Elsie Bevers Obituary
Elsie D. (Mrs. Dale) Bevers, age 89, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, July 01, 2015, at a local care center in Watertown.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015, at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Watertown.
Rev. Marlyn Kuper will officiate.
Music will be provided by Jackie Wettestad as soloist accompanied by Vicki Krucker as organist.
Visitation will be prior to services at the church on Monday.
Arrangements are being handled by Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.
Pallbearers will be Rocky McGillivary, Bret McGillivary, Lawrence McGillivary, Kim Bevers and Daryl Anderson.
Elsie was born on December 23, 1925, in Henry, SD, to Henry and Mary (Christner) McGillivary.
She graduated from Henry High School in 1944.
On August 18, 1946, Elsie married Dale Bevers in Watertown, SD.
They moved to a farm south of Hazel, SD, and lived there before moving to another farm which was also south of Hazel.
The couple lived and farmed there until moving west of Watertown in 1978.
They moved into Watertown in 1996 and have made their home here since.
After retiring, Elsie and Dale traveled to Texas where they managed a mobile park during the winter months for 15 years.
She was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Watertown and a former member of Kellerton United Methodist Church in rural Hazel.
Elsie enjoyed canning, gardening, cooking, sewing, knitting, needle work and she especially enjoyed helping on the farm.
Elsie is survived by her husband of 68 years, Dale Bevers, of Watertown; one brother, Marvin (Joyce) McGillivary, of Henry, SD; and one sister, Violetta Severson, of Clark, SD.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ronald and Lester McGillivary.
