Florence Weyer Obituary

Florence E. (Mrs. Pete) Weyer, age 84, of Watertown, SD, passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at her residence.

A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Watertown.

The celebrant will be Fr. Michael Wensing.

Music will be provided by Donna Williams as organist with a duet performed by Robbyn Givens and Darian Givens. The song leader will be Becky Lubbers. Gift bearers will be Florence's granddaughters: Shana Bialas, Ashley Blais and Jaime Endres.

The family is requested to meet at the church on Saturday by 10:30 a.m. for a prayer service.





Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Scripture Wake Service. Visitation will continue prior to services at the church on Saturday.





Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Watertown.

Pallbearers will be Florence's grandsons: Kerry Jurgens, Jason Endres, Jess Peterson, Cody Peterson, Dusty Peterson, Grant Borns and Ryan Borns.







Florence Elizabeth Weyer was born on July 8, 1931, on the family farm near Grenville, SD, to Joe and Helen (Block) Koslowski. She attended country school through the 8th grade and graduated in 1948 from St. Joseph High School in Grenville.

Florence worked at Knapp's Café in Webster, where she met her future husband.







On November 7, 1950, Florence married Peter "Pete" Weyer at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grenville, SD.

The couple moved to Watertown in 1951 and Florence used her sewing skills by sewing drapes in her home for Herbergers Department store until her daughters were all in school.

She then worked as manager of the drapery department in Herbergers until 1967 when she went to work in the drapery department of Zimmels Furniture until 1973.

Florence later worked as a clerk at Municipal Utilities from December 1973 until her retirement in July 1991.

Florence and Peter started traveling spending six months in Mesa, AZ, and six months in Watertown.







She was a founding member of Holy Name Catholic Church.

Florence and Pete enjoyed square dancing and ballroom dancing.

She was a member of St. Cecelia Circle and was in the choir at Holy Name.

Florence enjoyed crocheting and playing cards.

She loved spending time with her family and following her grandchildren's activities.





Florence is survived by her husband, Pete, of Watertown; two daughters: Cindy (Larry) Endres and Debby (Stan) Peterson all of Watertown; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry (Annette) Koslowski, of Minneapolis, MN; and two sisters: Tina Beisch of Waubay, SD, and Lucy Ravellette of San Diego, CA.





She was preceded in death by one daughter, Pam; her parents; and two brothers.
