Genevieve was born on September 3, 1918, in Fairmont, NE, to Chester M. and Mary E. (Schroeder) Marget. She lived on a farm with her parents, two brothers and a sister, until she was eight years old. Her parents then moved to a farm near Kiowa, CO. Another little girl joined the family there. After graduating from a country grade school, she went to Colorado Springs, CO, where she graduated from high school and college.
It was in those early years of high school when she realized that she was a sinner and needed to get right with God. How graciously God led her to Himself until she knew she was a sinner saved by grace.
Genevieve graduated from Peoples Bible College of Colorado Springs with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. She taught typing and bookkeeping in the high school department of that same school. Genevieve was also in charge of student work schedules in the girls dormitory.
After a number of years there, she came to Watertown, SD, "for a year". That was around 1970, and she has been here ever since. Genevieve so much appreciated her good church here and also enjoyed the more relaxed way of living in a farming community. For ten years she had a live-in job caring for an elderly lady until her death in 1982. Soon after that Genevieve began babysitting for a few families in their homes. She enjoyed it so much that she continued to do it until 2001. For most of her last nine years she was in assisted living.
Genevieve so much appreciated the excellent care she received at Meadow Lake Assisted Living.
Genevieve is survived by four nephews and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Mary Marget; two brothers, Gerald Marget and Glenn Marget; and two sisters, Betty Kelley and Neva Barbour.
