Hilda Grewing Obituary
Hilda M. Grewing, age 85, of South Shore, SD, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at the local hospital. She was the widow of Henry Grewing. Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 , at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in South Shore. Rev. Ken Nelson will officiate. Coleen Quade will be the organist with congregational singing. The family is requested to meet by 9:30 a.m. at the church for a family prayer service.
Visitation will start at 9:00 a.m. prior to services at the church on Saturday. Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Larry Langhoff, Jon Revoir, Brian Pedersen, Camren Grewing, Roger Amdahl, Al Buelow, Jamie Dolen, Charles Koll, Ryan Scriver, Robert Weeks and Jim Zirbel.
Hilda was born on January 26, 1932, to Carl and Astrid (Nelson) Beskow, on the farm in Grant County, SD. She attended Grant County Schools and graduated from Northwestern Lutheran Academy in Mobridge, SD, on June 9, 1950.
On June 29, 1952, Hilda was united in marriage to Henry Grewing in Aberdeen, SD. The couple moved to Aberdeen. In 1956 they bought a farm near South Shore, and in 1973 they moved into South Shore. Hilda worked several different jobs in South Shore, including working as an EMT.
She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in South Shore and served on the town board for 10 years. Hilda played the organ for over 70 years. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, gardening and was an avid pinochle player. Hilda loved the time she spent with her family.
Hilda is survived by her children: Roberta (Larry) Langhoff of Champlin, MN, Robert (Mary) Grewing of South Shore, SD, Ronald Grewing of South Shore, SD, and Renee (Jon) Revoir of Everett, WA; one sister, Sylvia (Lorenz) Hicks, of Raleigh, NC; two grandchildren, Melissa and Kristopher Grewing; eight great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren, Angela Langhoff, Paulette Revoir and Kevin Revoir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; her parents; and one brother, Duane.
