Jacob Jacobson Obituary
Jacob Z. Jacobson, age 44, of Strandburg, SD, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at his residence. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2016, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kranzburg, SD.
Fr. Denis Meier will be the celebrant. Music will be provided by Eileen Lindner as organist with special music by Paul and Verla Peterson.
Visitation will be held at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD, on Sunday, from 2-4 p.m. with a Scripture Wake Service at 3:30 p.m. and also prior to services at the church on Monday.
Burial will be at the Goodwin Cemetery, Goodwin, SD. Active pallbearers will be Seth Lauseng, Dave Chell, Tom Hurd, John Jackson, Ben Jackson and Josh Jackson.
Jacob was born on July 20, 1971, in Melrose Park, IL, to Duane "Buck" and Suzanne (Charbonneau) Jacobson. He was a 1989 graduate of Grant-Deuel High School in Revillo, SD, and attended Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown. He moved to Hawaii, working security jobs and running shuttle services. Jacob moved back to Strandburg, where he farmed with his dad and worked as a heavy equipment operator doing road construction. In January of 2008, Jacob was injured in an auto accident which left him disabled from working.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being on the farm. Jacob's dream was to eventually take over the farming operation. He was also very handy at doing mechanical work.
Jacob is survived by his son, Colin Schiefelbein, of Sioux Falls, SD; his father, Duane "Buck" (Deborah) Jacobson, of Watertown, SD; two sisters, Rachael Jacobson of Hartford, SD, and Abigail (Brad) Coyle of Billings, MT; and one step-brother, David Chell, of Austin, TX.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Tyler Eining; and his mother, Suzanne Jacobson.
Memorials may be directed to the Suzanne Jacobson Memorial Fund at Prairie Lakes Hospital, 401 9th Avenue NW, Watertown, SD, 57201.
