Janet Chapin Obituary
Janet Lee Chapin, age 82, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016, at a care center in Watertown. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016, at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Rev. Kent Stillson will officiate. Visitation will take place one hour prior to services on Thursday.
Burial will be at Vienna Lutheran Cemetery, Vienna, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Janet's grandchildren.
Janet was born on December 9, 1933, at Vienna, SD, to Leo and Jetta (Tenney) Six. She graduated in 1951 from Vienna High School, Vienna, SD.
In 1952, Janet married Thomas Chapin. The couple lived in the Bryant, Vienna and Chester area, eventually moving back to Bryant where Janet worked in healthcare. She moved to Rapid City, SD, and worked at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Janet moved to Watertown working at Memorial Hospital and later in the central supply department at Prairie Lakes Healthcare Center until her retirement.
She was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Watertown. Janet enjoyed fishing and watching sports. She also enjoyed playing cards and Bingo. Attending her grandchildren's school and sporting events was most important to Janet.
Janet is survived by her children: Ann (Darrel) Muser of Erwin, SD, Terry (Rose) Chapin of Watertown, Lorie (Dave) Olsen of Hayti, SD, and Chris (Staci) Chapin of Arlington, SD; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Sandy (Larry) Peterson, of Watertown.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Patty Waldo.
