Lonnie Hanson Obituary
Lonnie D. Hanson, age 71, of Aberdeen, SD, formerly of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016, at Bethesda Home in Aberdeen. Funeral services will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Rev. Reino Mauno will officiate. Music will be provided by Wanda Laue as organist with congregational hymns. The family is requested to meet at 1:30 at the chapel on Saturday for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Friday from 5-7 p.m. and prior to services on Saturday.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Active pallbearers will be Lonnie's cousins: Larry Haight, Gary Haight, Parry Haight, Thomas Hanson and Randy Hanson.
Lonnie was born in Watertown, SD, on October 2, 1945, to Dale and Leila (Cohoon) Hanson. He graduated in 1963 from a high school in Pine River, MN.
On October 8, 1966, Lonnie was united in marriage to Carol Forman in Watertown. He was employed by Western Electric, which later became AT & T, retiring after 43 years with the company. Carol passed away on December 8, 2013.
He was a member of the Eagles Aerie, where he held many positions, including president. Lonnie was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed gardening and bowling, having many good times at bowling tournaments. He also enjoyed having coffee daily with the guys. His biggest passion was his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Lonnie is survived by his daughter, Michelle DeVries and her special friend, Tom Fritz, of Aberdeen, SD; his son, Jon Hanson, of Aberdeen, SD; four grandchildren: Joshua (Jennifer) DeVries, Jonathan DeVries, Gabriel Hanson and Gwendalyn Hanson; three great-grandchildren: Jayden DeVries, Natalie DeVries and Adabelle DeVries; one brother, Ross (Debi) Hanson; and his mother-in-law, Delores (Forman) Roberts.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and his brother, Wayne.
