Scarred and wrinkled from too many brawls and large bouts of laughter, Lynn's face shows a man with passion for every action he set his heart toward. Gone before he wanted to go, Lynn Howard Stormo died surrounded by his family on November 22, 2016.

Lynn told stories of Smokey the pony that Grandpa Emil bought for him and his brother Rodney. Friends through the years with more stories than either care to retell, Rodney and Lynn were partners through many a corn field with Smokey and over frozen pocket-gopher mounds with their dirt bikes. Kevin, Lynn, and Rodney were brothers on the farm hauling bales and on the football field as proud Hayti Redbirds. If you asked Lynn, they won every game. While Ann, Lois and Mark followed along, the six siblings kept their mother, MayDelle (Bob) Boadwine very busy while growing up on the farm with Grandma Emil and Grandma Thelma Kangas.

Lynn met the love his life, Donna Watson, at a basketball game in Watertown in March of 1973. After a first date of roller skating and mushroom pizza, they soon married in October of that same year. Donna's parents loved Lynn, even when he took her in a semi across the country for the next 15+ years. With two logbooks, Lynn and Donna drove over a million miles across the country as the truck never slept and the atlas guided them from State to State.

Somewhere in between the miles, Lynn was the Best Man to see his siblings, Rodney, Kevin, Mark, and Lois all marry and settle down closer to home. Lynn and Donna also bought an acreage close to the farm they all grew up on. All six siblings found home no more than 45 minutes from one another now.

When Samantha was born in 1982 and Daniel in 1987, Lynn recounts standing and looking at the stars and thanking God every day for each of his healthy children. Although he wasn't the kind of dad that could make it to every concert and every game, there was always food on the table and warm clothes in the winter because of the long hours both Lynn and Donna worked. In his actions-speaking-louder-than-any-words way, Lynn showed his children that hard work will pay off.

Lynn's dad, Howard, moved back to South Dakota at the end of Howard's life. While Howard lived in Watertown near Ann, Lynn was glad to reconnect with his Dad for the last few years with pizza for Christmas Eve dinner. Throughout their travels, Lynn and Donna had stopped to visit Howard in California and then Denver.

Wanting their children to "work smarter, not harder" in life, Lynn recounted the line again and again as he persuaded his kids to go to school. Lynn and Donna couldn't have been more proud to see Daniel graduate from LATI and Samantha from SDSU and USD.

Samantha married Tom Walder and Lynn proudly gained another son. Their children, Leah and Martin, gave Lynn and Donna the new job title of Grandma and Grandpa, a title which they proudly held as the farm became daycare. Grandpa Lynn told stories just like he did to Daniel and Samantha. His work "raising dinosaurs" and "flying to the Moon" made imaginations soar.

With a body worn from years of over-the-road trucking, Lynn lived out his last years on the farm they all worked so hard to build. His spirited love for his family was never tarnished, and his passion for going as hard as he could as long as he could finally wore his body down. In the end, Lynn would often quote his idol, Grandpa Emil, "Man Plans, God Decides" as a way for us all to remember that you are never too young, it is never too early, and it cannot wait until tomorrow.
