Michael Barton Obituary
Michael James "Mike" Barton, age 64, of Watertown, SD, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2015, in Sioux Falls, SD, after a short illness.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2015, at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
There will be a time for family sharing at 6: 00 p.m.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike's grandchildren and great-grandchildren and Scott Anderson, Buck Fjerstad, Joe Benthin and Doug Rislov.
Mike was born on March 9, 1950, at Faulkton, SD, to Milo and Laverne (Lerew) Barton.
He attended schools in the Aberdeen area and graduated from Frederick High School in 1968.
After high school, he attended Northern State College in Aberdeen and was a member of the SD Army National Guard. Mike worked for many years in the Aberdeen area as a machinist and was also a dairy farmer.
Mike married Jolene Olson and they were blessed with two sons, Chad and Zachary.
In later years, he lived and worked in the Watertown area.
He will be remembered as a dedicated and loving son, father, brother and grandfather; and for his passion, humor and intelligence; and as a hard-working man in all his endeavors.
Mike is survived by his two sons: Chad (Tashia) Barton of Watertown and Zachary (Stephanie) Townsend of Conde, SD; five grandchildren: Dustin (Chantal), Gage, CJ, Trey and Madison; two great-grandchildren: Aubrie and Easton; his mother, Laverne, of Ellendale, ND; two brothers: Stuart (Janet) Barton of Aberdeen and Brent (Jo Beth) Barton of Mobridge, SD; three sisters: Denise (Doug) Miller of Nemo, SD, Valerie Barton and her husband, Donald Leach, of Heathsville, VA, and Karman Furman of Ellendale, ND; a very large extended family of uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and grandnieces/nephews; and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Milo; and one brother-in-law, Russell Furman.
