Robert Burton Obituary
Robert V. Burton, Billings, MT, passed away in his home on Friday, December 30, 2016, from a long illness of emphysema. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at New Hope Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hayti, SD. Rev. Sara Nelson will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by Cook-Olsen Post #217 of the American Legion of Hayti.
Arrangements are being handled by the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel of Watertown, SD.
Robert was born on May 15, 1951, in Montana to Evan and Pearl (Schumer) Burton. Following high school graduation, Robert enlisted and served in the Army as a US Army Ranger in the Vietnam Conflict. After an honorable discharge, he drove over-the-road truck, covering the lower 48 states and Canada.
On June 12, 2002, Robert married Nancy Eggen in Watertown, SD, where they made their home before moving to Montana in 2003.
Robert is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Billings, MT; stepson, Heath (Jennifer) Heggelund, of Watertown; stepdaughter, Sara (Jimmy) Garcia, of Tucumcari, NM; and his beloved and cherished grandchildren.
