Ruth Lacy Obituary

Ruth Allene Lacy, age 93, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Center in Clear Lake, SD.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown.

Pastor Stephen Gregg and Pastor Elverne Asbury will officiate. Music will be provided by Brian Tierney as organist with special music by Ruth's family members.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to services at the chapel on Thursday.

Burial will be at the Oxford Cemetery, Thomas, SD.

Active pallbearers will be Wayne Wehrmann, Jeremy Jessup, Paul Crawford, Scott Ruby, Jon Ruby and Samuel Wipf.

Ruth was born on May 29, 1922, in a homestead log cabin near Divide, CO, to Lawrence and Hazel (Kennedy) Karr.

After several earlier moves, when Ruth was eight years old the family settled in Colorado Springs, CO. There she later attended Peoples Bible College where she met her future husband, Rhuben Lacy.

On June 7, 1943, Ruth married Rhuben Lacy in Colorado Springs, CO, and together they began their 56 years of ministry in various places: Wisconsin; Colorado; Kansas City, Missouri; Guatemala; Pennsylvania; Toronto, Canada; New Jersey; north Idaho; Nebraska; Indiana and Ohio. In August of 1999, they retired in Watertown, SD. Rhuben went to heaven in April of 2006 and Ruth moved to Good Samaritan nursing home in Clear Lake in September of 2013.

Ruth was a very quiet and reserved lady. She was a full-time homemaker and a faithful pastor's wife, always content and uncomplaining wherever she was. Her sweet and gentle spirit supported and complemented her husband's ministry. She lovingly taught her four daughters all of the homemaking skills - cooking, cleaning and sewing.

She was always there for them.

Ruth loved good music, beautiful flowers, good chocolates and a clean and tidy home.

Ruth is survived by her four daughters: Esther (Wayne) Wehrmann of Woodland Park, CO, Bonnie Lacy of Clear Lake, SD, Olive (Elverne) Asbury of Elwood, IN, and Ardella (Paul) Crawford of Washington, PA; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Ganger and Mary Rotz both of Colorado Springs, CO; one brother, Ben (Anita) Karr, of Denver, CO; and 20 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rhuben; an infant son, Wesley; her parents; and one brother, Paul.
