(Thomas) T. Lee Hansen, 94, of South Shore, SD passed away on April 10, 2017 in Watertown, SD. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in South Shore. Rev. Ken Nelson will officiate. Music will be provided by congregational singing. The family is requested to meet at the church by 9:30 a.m. on Saturday for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD, on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in South Shore. Active pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Lee was born on September 6, 1922 in Milbank, SD to Nels and Martha (Thompson) Hansen. He grew up on the family farm in Stockholm township, Grant County, SD. He attended the Klondike country school through 8th grade and graduated from South Shore High School in 1940.
On April 9, 1944, Lee was united in marriage with Virginia Blek in South Shore, SD. To this union were born three children, Tommy, John (Jack) and Jeanne.They made their first home in South Shore and later moved to a farm in Grant County. They moved back into South Shore in 1960.
Lee operated a trucking business for several years in addition to raising cattle on his ranch near South Shore. Lee loved working with cattle and was actively involved with operations on the ranch until the last few months of his life. Lee was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in South Shore.
Virginia passed away on October 29, 2003.
Lee married Jean (Zirbel) Steinmetz on December 30, 2006.
Lee is survived by his wife, Jean; his children: Tommy (Marlene) Hansen of Kearney, NE, Jack (Vicki) Hansen of South Shore and Jeanne Dwight of LaVista, NE. He is survived by seven grandchildren: Barry Kiesz of Aberdeen, SD, Laura (Ronnie) Stone of Shreveport, LA, Lincoln Hansen of Kearney, NE, Eric (Angela) Dwight of Omaha, NE, Spencer (Abby) Hansen of Lexington, NE, Heather (Tyson) Bruntz of Papillion, NE and Logan Hansen of Kearney, NE and ten great-grandchildren: Ally and Elena Kiesz, Lenka and Janika Dwight, Briggen and Lucas Bruntz, Piper and Tilly Hansen, and Jessie and Jordan Stone. Lee is also survived by his sister-in-law, Geraldine (Percy) Hansen of Milbank and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; his parents; one brother, Percy; five sisters: Cora, Nona, Marian (Dolly), Annette and Mary Eunice and a son-in-law, Phil Dwight.
