Willa Mae Cooper, age 90, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017, at a local care center. She was the widow of Paul Cooper. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Rev. Randy
Eisenbeisz and Pastor Scott Dempster will officiate. Music will be provided by Helen Prouty as organist and Judy Everson as soloist. The family is requested to meet at the chapel by 10:30 a.m. on Friday to attend the service.
A memorial visitation will be held at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and prior to services at the chapel on Friday.
Placement of her cremains will be in the Columbarium at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Willa's family and friends.
Willa was born on December 31, 1926, in Edgerton, WY, to Jesse and Vera (Beach) Morris. She attended school in Watertown. On May 29, 1948, Willa was united in marriage to Paul Cooper in Webster, SD. The couple made their home in Watertown for their entire life except for three years that were spent in Bowdle, SD. She was employed at Tuck's Café and Quadee Rubber, later Minnesota Rubber Co., for 25 years.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she helped serve funeral luncheons. Willa enjoyed spending time at Missouri River, fishing and most of all bird watching.
Willa is survived by her children, Doug (Cheryl) Cooper of Gettysburg, SD, and Paula (Dan) Smith of Vienna, SD; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Evelyn Carmack, of Paradise, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her parents; and 10 siblings.
