Barbara Stobb Obituary
Barbara J. Stobb, age 85, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at a local care center.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Westland, MI. Visitation will be at the Uht Funeral Home in Westland, MI on Monday, May 27, 2019, from 2-8 p.m. Burial will be at Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia, MI.
Active pallbearers will be Barbara's grandsons: Tristan Fraser, Ethan Maertz, Ryan Maertz, Chase Hartley, Gunner Fraser and Erik Hansen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Barbara's granddaughters: Lauren Hansen, Alyssa Maertz, Gillian Hartley, Sydney Stobb and Bella Stobb. Memorial services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Watertown.
Rev. Paul Janke will officiate.
The family is requested to meet at the chapel by 3:30 p.m. for a prayer service. Barbara was born on December 1, 1933, in Sioux City, IA, to Gerhard and Helen (Komm) Press.
She attended school at St. John's Lutheran School and Michigan Lutheran Seminary. On October 30, 1960, Barbara married Donald Stobb at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wayne, MI.
The couple made their home in Michigan and to this union six children were born: Christopher, Lynn, Paula, Annette, Matthew and Benjamin.
Barbara worked as a homemaker and a bank teller for Wayne County Public Credit Union until retirement. She was a member of the Ladies Group at St. John's Lutheran Church and enjoyed reading and watching Hallmark movies.
Barbara also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and was looking forward to meeting her great-grandchild in August.
Barbara is survived by her children: Christopher (Melody) Stobb of West Jordan, UT, Lynn (David) Maertz of Watertown, SD, Paula (Joe) Fraser of Herriman, UT, Annette (Doug) Hartley of Milan, MI, Matthew Stobb of Lehi, UT, and Benjamin (Carla) Stobb of Westland, MI; ten grandchildren; one great grand-child due in August; and one sister in-law Margaret (Tom) Schaffer of Westland, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents, Gerhard and Helen; siblings: Mark, Phil and Richard Press and Pauline Toensing.
