What To Do
Billy G. "Willy" Schulz, age 71, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at the local hospital. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, 2019, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Rev. Hank Roso will officiate.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Saturday, July 13, 2019, from 5-7 p.m. and prior to services at the chapel on Sunday.
Military honors will be conducted by the Vietnam Era Veterans Chapter 1054 and the Military Funeral Honors Team of the SD Army National Guard. Honorary Urnbearers will be all of Willy’s grandchildren.
Willy was born on April 24, 1948, in Watertown, SD, to Glen and LaVon (Guffey) Schulz. He attended school in Clark, SD. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged.
On March 16, 1968, Willy married Jan Ebbers in Clark, SD, where they lived among other various communities, before settling back in Watertown, SD. On January 25, 1997, Willy married Katy LaFramboise in Watertown, SD. Willy drove truck for Arrow Truck Lines, LaFramboise Construction and the Watertown Co-op Elevator. He had retired but was still driving part time upon his death.
Willy was a member of the Watertown Elks and the Vietnam Veterans. He enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, attending rodeos and watching Western’s on TV. He loved his grandchildren and adored his wife Katy. Willy will be forever remembered for his great storytelling.
Willy is survived by his wife, Katy, of Watertown, SD; his children: Teresa (Demetrius Chism) Schulz of Seattle, WA, Tiffany Schulz of Volga, SD, Billie Jo Schulz of Sioux Falls, SD, Cody (Jody) Schulz of Sioux Falls, SD; Clint Engels of Watertown, SD; Kerry (Kami) Engels of Apache Junction, AZ, and Kevin (Liz Monson) Engels of Avondale, AZ; one sister, Connie Kupec of Brookings, SD; 14 grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Melissa; one sister, Sherry Rudoff; one brother-in-law, Keith Kupec; and two nieces.
