Cheri D. "Mrs. Keith" Siegfried, age 71, Goodwin, SD, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at the local hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Watertown. Rev. Steve Anderson will officiate. Music will be provided by Daniel Tsukamoto as organist with Jackie Wettestad as vocalist. The family is requested to meet by 10:00 a.m. for a Family Prayer Service.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and also prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Burial will be at the Goodwin Cemetery in Goodwin. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Cheri's grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be: Brian Siegfried, Aaron Siegfried, Ed Frericks, Bob Pelt, Justin Lenz, and Rollin Siegfried.
Cheri was born on February 23, 1947, to Erwin and Eleanor (Pelt) Lenz, in Chicago, IL. She was a graduate of Proviso West High School and attended IL State University for two years.
On June 24, 1967, Cheri was united in marriage to Keith Siegfried in Bellwood, IL. The couple met in April of 1966 when she attended a dance at the NCO Club at Chanute Air Force Base where Keith was stationed in the Air National Guard. The couple then made their home on the family farm by Goodwin and Cheri received her Teachers Certificate. She taught in Altamont and Goodwin while working on her Bachelor's Degree through Dakota State University in Madison, SD. In 1971 they started raising their family and Cheri continued to help in all aspects of the farming business with Keith.
She was a member of Clear Lake Methodist Church. In 1976 Cheri helped research and record the history of Deuel County. She organized the Crafts and Laughs in Goodwin and she thoroughly enjoyed serving on the Deuel School Board for nine years, including several years serving as President. Cheri enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, cleaning and crafting. She enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's events. Her most treasured times were spent with her family at the farm. Her family meant the world to her.
Cheri is survived by her husband, Keith of Goodwin; her children: Brian (Carla) Siegfried of Goodwin, SD, Aaron Siegfried of Grimes, IA and Cathy (Ed) Frericks of Frankfort, SD; eight grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; her father, Erwin Lenz of Goodwin, SD; and her brother, Terry (Joyce) Lenz of Johnsburg, IL.
Cheri was preceded in death by her mother.
