What To Do
Deborah “Debbie” T. (Mrs. Scott) Christians, age 61, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018, at a care center in Watertown. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Watertown. Father Michael Wensing will be the celebrant. Music will be provided by Jane Rokusek as organist with Blaine Martian as the song leader. The family is requested to meet at the church on Friday by 10:30 a.m. for a prayer service.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Thursday, October 11, 2018, from 4-7 p.m. with a Scripture Wake Service at 6 p.m. Visitation will also continue prior to services at the church on Friday.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jo-Ann Severino, Eric Aschow, Kristin Rigdon, Gwen Dockter, Carol Blinsmon, Lisa Cozad, Kevin and Nancy Byer, Rob and Jan Sachariason and Bruce Cozad. Active pallbearers will be: Tava Berg, Jaden Hanson, Louis Severino, Jr, Mike Swanson, Don Rigdon, Dion Dockter, Terry Blinsmon and Mike Even.
Debbie was born on December 8, 1956, in New Haven, CT, to Louis and Evelyn (Lenzi) Severino. She was a graduate of East Haven High School and Stone Academy of Business in New Haven. She worked at Nationwide Insurance while in Connecticut.
On November 5, 1994, Debbie married Scott Christians in New Haven, CT. The couple moved and made their home in Watertown, SD. Debbie was employed and currently performing office manager duties at Lloyd’s Heating and Cooling.
She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Debbie enjoyed traveling, coloring and was an avid pet lover. As part of the Severino family tradition, she has traveled to Cape Cod every year since she was 4 years old, a place that she truly loved. Debbie was very close to her dad, having long phone conversations with him, always working out any differences. She would call her mom every day and was very close and considerate of her family. She was a huge supporter of Theresa and the Dakota Gold Cheer Team. Debbie was a great wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was very much loved and never showed remorse against anyone.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Scott, of Watertown; one daughter, Theresa, of Watertown; her parents, Louis and Evelyn Severino, of East Haven, CT; her in-laws, Lloyd (Lorraine) Christians, of Watertown, SD; one brother, Louis (Jo-Ann) Severino, Jr., of Gilford, CT; two sisters-in-law, Vicky (Eric) Aschow, of Orangeville, CA, and Tammy (Michael) Swanson, of Citrus Heights, CA; seven nephews and one niece.
In Lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to “Codington County Cares”.
