Devon Reeve Obituary
Devon M. Reeve, age 92, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at the local hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019, at St. Martin's Lutheran Church. Rev. Paul Janke will officiate. Music will be provided by Carol Janke with congregational singing. The family is requested to meet at the church by 9:30 a.m. for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Thursday from 4-6 p.m. and also prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Devon's grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be: Courtney Livingston, Tim McElhaney, Larry Singrey, Dale Tesch, Matt Roberts and Donald Mischke.
Devon was born on February 2, 1926, to Clarence and Blanche (Arklund) Reeve, in Henry, SD. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Martin's Lutheran Church. After attending grade school at Fairview #68, Devon attended Henry High School. On July 6, 1949, Devon was united in marriage to Marlys Currey. They ran and continued to operate Reeve's Resort on Medicine Lake for many years. He worked for American Sand and Gravel for four years. Devon then worked at Farmland Community Oil Co. for 31 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church. Devon enjoyed swimming, playing cards and visiting with people.
Devon is survived by his children: Muriel (Jerry) Sorbel of Yankton, SD, Dallas Reeve of Watertown, SD and Dana (Leisa) Reeve of Sioux Falls, SD; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlys; his parents; four brothers and two sisters.
