What To Do
Edward A. “Pudgy” Splinter, age 75, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018, at the Deuel County Good Samaritan Society in Clear Lake, SD. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 31, 2018, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pastor Steve Biswell will officiate. The family is requested to meet by 10:00 a.m. at the chapel on Friday.
Visitation will be at the chapel on Friday, prior to the service.
Burial will be at Thomas Cemetery, Thomas, SD. Military honors will be conducted by the Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion, Watertown, and the Military Funeral Honors Team of the SD Army National Guard.
Pudgy was born on January 12, 1943, to Harry and Bernadette (Eccles) Splinter, in Watertown, SD. After graduating from high school, Pudgy entered the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharge, he started working as a bartender in Watertown.
On June 22, 1988, Pudgy was united in marriage to Barbara Anderson. He then started working at Smith Equipment, where he worked for over 22 years as a custodian. He was a member of Watertown Wesleyan Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed buying cars and playing cards.
Pudgy is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Watertown, SD; his children: Mark Busack (special friend Joan Bowers) of Watertown, SD and Beth Ann Aaker (special friend Kevin Dillon), of Olivia, MN; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Leonard (LaVonne) Splinter, of Watertown, SD, and Donald Splinter, of Seattle, WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Brenda Fligge and Paula Busack; two sisters; and three brothers.
