***PLEASE NOTE DATE OF SERVICES*** Frances J. Erickson, age 80, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at the hospital in Watertown.
A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Pastor Steve Biswell will officiate.
The family is requested to meet at the chapel at 1:30 p.m. for a family prayer service. Visitation will take place prior to services at the chapel on Saturday from 1-2 p.m.
Honorary pallbearers will be Frances' grandchildren. Burial will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. Frances was born on July 23, 1938, in Draper, NC, to Roy and Addie (Barker) Light.
She attended Draper High School and graduated in 1956. On May 19, 1957, Frances married Gerald L. Erickson in Reidsville, NC.
She followed her husband around the United States during his Navy career, raising their children and being an excellent housewife.
The couple moved to Watertown, SD, in December of 1968.
Frances was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor. Frances is survived by her children: Connie (Brad) Moore of Pierre, SD, Jim (Carolyn) Erickson of Eden Prairie, MN, and Gary (Lisa) Erickson of Greenville, IL; 14 grandchildren: Beau (Lesley) Briggs, Chase (Kelly) Briggs, Erin (Aaron) Horn, Austin (Holly) Briggs, Melissa (Justin) Flottmeyer, Jessica Moore, Derek Moore (Paige Undeberg), Jessica (Brandon) Yezek, Nathan (Shannon) Erickson, Andrew (Julia) Darud, Trevor (Michelle) Erickson, Ben Erickson, Rylee Erickson and Justin Erickson; 17 great-grandchildren: Julia, Graham, Maddy, Issac, Hailee, Brayden, Taylor, Jacob, Anika, Calla, Devon, Kenzie, Atticus, Zoey, Cora, Grayson and Jackson; and her brother, Allen (Fahne) Light of Eden, NC. Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her parents; two sisters, Irene Nance and Mercia Robertson; and her brother-in-law, Garland Nance.
