Frank Lane Obituary
Franklin D. "Frank" Lane, age 81, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018, at a local care center.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
John Miles will officiate.
The family is requested to meet at the chapel on Saturday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Friday from 5-7 p.m. and prior to services at the chapel on Saturday.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.
Military graveside honors will be conducted by Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion, Watertown, and the Military Funeral Honors Team of the SD Army National Guard.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of Frank's friends from the paper route.
Active pallbearers will be Mark Lane, Bob Thompson, Mike Lane, Kelly Kuester, Kory Lane and Carter Lane.
Frank was born on January 24, 1937, in Bison, SD, to Theodore and Evelyn (Ritter) Lane.
He was a family member of 13 siblings.
He served in the US Army from June 8, 1960, to May 1, 1962, where he was stationed in Germany.
He was then in the reserves for four years. Frank farmed for several years with his brother, Leon.
Frank worked for the Public Opinion delivering papers for more than 20 years.
He lived with and took care of his mother for several years after farming. Frank loved singing and playing music.
He played all instruments by ear.
Frank is survived by two brothers, Dick (Jeanne) Lane of Watertown and Chester "Chet" (Dora) Lane of Yuma, AZ; two sisters, Lila Giedd of Peoria, AZ, and Ellie Barnette of Watertown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and three sisters.
