Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg’s family and friends. Active pallbearers will be: Tyler Stark, Dale Nei, Kevin (George) Robinson and Rick Plumer.
Greg was born on March 23, 1952, to George and Lillian (Forrest) Stark, in Hastings, MN. He was one of four children and the only son. He attended school and graduated from Hastings High School. After high school, Greg attended a vocational school where he studied auto mechanics, which then became his profession. He worked at various car dealerships in Minnesota and South Dakota.
On February 10, 1990, Greg was united in marriage to Vicki Murphy in Hastings, to which he became a stepfather to Vicki’s daughter, Mikaela. They were blessed with two more children, Tyler and Dylan. In 2001 they moved to South Dakota and made their home in Conde, where they have resided since then. In 2005, Greg was blessed with a grandchild, Elijah, which became Greg’s “adventure buddy”. He worked at car dealerships in the Aberdeen area until he went to work at Molded Fiberglass, where he was currently employed.
Greg enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was camping at Amsden Dam, fishing, hiking with Eli or just sitting outside by a bonfire or standing out in a total blizzard. He loved his family and his lifelong friends, Dale and Deb Nei and George and Chris Robinson, making it a point to spend as much time as he could with them all. It made him happy just sitting outside with his favorite beverages, and loved when random people would join him for his knowledge. He loved his music, whether it was rock and roll, blues, country, or just listening to his son Dylan, picking on the guitar. Greg enjoyed his garden, his flowers, and all things nature. He believed in having a good work ethic, which showed throughout his life. He will be missed so much by everyone who knew and loved him, but the family dog, Harley, will be lost without him.
Greg is survived by his wife, Vicki, of Conde, SD; his step-daughter, Mikaela Schulz (Gary Freiwald), of Conde, SD; one son, Tyler Stark, of Mitchell, SD; his grandson, Elijah, of Conde, SD; a special young lady, his son Dylan’s girlfriend, Brittany Sienkiewicz, who is currently carrying his second grandson; two sisters: Sally (Mike) Butcher, of Woodburn, OR and Karen (Martin) Corona, of Seattle, WA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in law, Dan and Deb Krueger, of Watertown, SD, Kathy Grabowski, of Elizabethtown, KY, Patrick and Marsha Murphy, of Watertown, SD; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dylan; his parents; his sister, Gwen; his in-laws, Harold Murphy, Arlene Murphy and Patricia Murphy; and his wife’s son, Jeremy Murphy.
