What To Do
Harlan M. Stevenson, age 76, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019, at the local hospital. Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel. Pastor Gerald Volk will officiate. Music will be provided by A.J. Sherrill as organist with Robbyn Givens as soloist. The family is requested to meet at the chapel at 12:30 p.m. for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be at the chapel on Thursday, prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Stadheim, Troy Rinehardt, Michael Krause and Terry Eachen
Harlan was born on February 4, 1943, to Ferdie and Mildred (Mitchell) Stevenson, in Watertown, SD. After graduating from Clear Lake High School in 1961, Harlan moved to Minneapolis, MN, where he owned and managed a couple of businesses. He moved back to Watertown and started his own construction business, buying, remodeling and managing numerous properties in the area. Harlan was very proud of the Lake Area Suites, which he co-owned. He was a member of the Watertown Quarterback Club and the Elks Club. Harlan and Sandy truly enjoyed attending all of the Watertown Arrow sporting events. Harlan loved dirt track racing and working on his acreage on Lake Pelican, developing his tree farm.
Harlan is survived by his children, Molly (Troy) Rinehardt of Fargo, ND and Heather Stevenson of Memphis, TN; two grandchildren, Kade and Bennett; his fiancé, Sandy Hoftiezer of Watertown, SD; and two sisters, Ilah Holst of Rapid City, SD and Patty (Paul) Trontvet of Rapid City, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
