Helen Rogge Obituary
Helen A. Rogge, age 77, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at a local care center in Watertown.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown.
Rev. Janet Miller will officiate.
Music will be provided by Mike Stusiak as organist with Becky Sprouse as soloist.
The family is requested to meet at the church by 12:30 p.m. for a prayer service.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Friday from 5-7 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paige Rogge, Breanna Rogge, her Enemy Swim lake friends and the Walmart associates.
Active pallbearers will be Tylan Rogge, Jay Hjermstad, Cory Rislov, Lance Albers, Chad Orthaus and Terry Kahnke.
Helen was born on July 16, 1940, on a farm in rural Florence, SD, to Jerome and Edna (Sumner) Orthaus.
She was confirmed at Helgen Lutheran Church.
She graduated from Florence High School in 1958.
Helen was baptized on October 21, 1960, at her wedding rehearsal.
On October 22, 1960, Helen married Keith Rogge at Bergan Lutheran Church in rural Florence.
The couple lived on a farm near Ortley, SD and later moved to a farm in rural Florence.
They lived and worked on the farm until 1993 when the couple moved to Watertown.
Helen began working at Walmart in 1990 and continued until 2014 when she retired due to health reasons.
After Keith passed away on June 12, 2016, Helen continued to make her home in Watertown.
She was a member of New Helgen Lutheran Church in Florence and a current member of Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown.
Helen enjoyed playing cards and dominoes, fishing, and spending her summers at Enemy Swim Lake.
One of her favorite things to do was attend her grandchildren's sporting events.
Helen is survived by her children, Lorne (Sue) Rogge of Florence, SD, and Ryan (Julie) Rogge of Watertown; three grandchildren: Tylan Rogge, Breanna Rogge and Paige Rogge;
three brothers: David (Gloria) Orthaus of Goodwin, SD, John (Michelle) Orthaus of Hanover, MI, and Mike (Kathy) Orthaus of Marshall, MN; and five sisters: Rita (Robert) Lunde of Florence, SD, Brenda Berg of Canton, SD, Rose (Larry) Kahnke, Bonnie (Doug) Rislov, and Nila (Steve) Bath, all of Florence.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Keith, her parents and one granddaughter, Sommer.
