Henry Pieschke Obituary
Henry C. "Hank" Pieschke, age 91, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Watertown. Rev. Keith Peterson will officiate. Music will be provided by Ellen Heisner as organist. The family is requested to meet at the church by 10:00 a.m. for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. and also prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Leo Kannas, Nate Seelow, Jacob Buri, Thad Buri, Kyle Thomas and Larry Helle.
Hank was born on April 21, 1928, to Albert and Lily (Tolzien) Pieschke, on a farm by Willow Lake, SD.
He was baptized and confirmed at Hauge Lutheran Church, rural Clark, SD.
He moved to the Henry area in 1946 and worked for the local farmers, before becoming employed as an auto tech. Henry served in the U.S. Army from 1952 thru 1954, serving in the Korean War for one year. Hank retired in 1993.
Hank was united in marriage to Lucille Helle on August 19, 1951, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Henry. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and wood working. Hank was a known handyman and would always lend a helping hand.
Hank is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lucille, of Watertown, SD, his children: Debra Pieschke of Brookings, SD, Carol (Milo) Ford of Watertown, SD and Anita (Cameron) Buri of Watertown, SD; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harry Pieschke (special friend, JoAnn) and Darrel Pieschke (special friend, Janice), both of Watertown; and two sisters, Hazel Hallauer of Florence, SD and Janis (Raymond) Helle of Watertown, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lily; one son, Lyle; one granddaughter, Sarah; three brothers, Donald, Richard and Earl; and two sisters, Grace and Darlene.
The family requests memorials to Great Plains Lutheran High School in Watertown.
