Jamaica L. Christensen, age 41, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019, at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, SD.
No services are planned at this time. A private memorial will be held at her parent's residence. Jamaica was born on September 4, 1978, in El Cajon, CA, to Terry Christensen and Rose Wilcox.
She attended school in Sioux Falls, SD. She laughed about being one of the Riverside Rat Pack. She cherished the friendships that she made in Sioux Falls and kept in touch till the end. She worked in Watertown, Castlewood and Clear Lake as a CNA. She was awarded the Millie Award as an exceptional caregiver.
She later moved back to Sioux Falls and worked as a waitress and at the Heart Hospital.
After her mother moved to Watertown, she did as well, working at Senior Max's and currently at Walmart.
She loved the people she worked with at Walmart, both employees and customers.
Jamaica was a sweet, loving person and cherished all of her friends. Jamaica is survived by her fiancé, Lee Malcolm of Watertown, SD; her mother, Rose (Jef) Schnackenberg, Sr. of Watertown, SD; her sister Ashley (Philip) McClung of Austin, TX; a step-brother Jeff Schnackenberg Jr. of Watertown, SD and her maternal grandmother, Carol Ferguson of Wickett, TX. Jamaica was preceded in death by her father, Terry Christensen; her paternal grandparents, Carl and Jeanine Christensen; and her great-grandmother, Ruth Wilcox.
Jamaica left this message for everyone; Please take time to educate yourself on mental illness. Everyone has issues. Step back and figure out what's real. Please find magic in everyday, please be true and kind! Be humble! Have gratitude! You never know who you could be hurting....
