James H. Ingalls, age 89, of Bryant, SD, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at a local care center. Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Friday, June 1, 2018, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A celebration of life service, along with burial, will be held at a later date.
James was born on January 8, 1929, in Clark County, SD, to Jed and Margaret (Miller) Ingalls. He attended Bryant High School in Bryant, SD, and worked on the family farm. Later, James enlisted in the United States Army and represented his country during the Korean Conflict. He returned to farming and met his love, Joyce. James and Joyce were married on May 15, 1960, in Watertown, SD. To this union, two children were born.
James was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and the American Legion in Bryant. Not only did James take pride in farming crops and raising livestock, but he also had a great love for horses and hunting. He and his wife ran a hunting and shooting preserve for many years in Hamlin County.
James is survived by his children: Justin (Lynette) Ingalls, Watertown, SD, and Darcy (Rick) Williams, Carmichael, CA; 11 grandchildren: Austin, Sydney, Emily, Jacqueline, Trevor, Cassidy, Shelby, Tana, Kyra, Danyel and Calli; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Evelyn, Esther and Edith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, in 2012; his parents; and his sister, Dorothy.
