Judy Salverson Obituary
Judy Kay (Mrs. Paul) Salverson, age 69, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, after being recently diagnosed with leukemia. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2019, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in South Shore, SD. Rev. Ken Nelson will officiate. Music will be provided by Colleen Quade as organist. The family is requested to meet at the church by 10:00 a.m. for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and also prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Burial will be at St. Luke's Germantown Cemetery, rural South Shore. Active Pallbearers will be: Nathan Pray, Dustin Schmeling, Elton Schmeling, Janelle Schmeling, Daren Hoffer and John Rudnick.
Judy was born on December 9, 1949, to Dale and Isabelle (Borns) Schmeling, in Watertown, SD, the second of four children. She grew up on a farm west of South Shore and graduated from South Shore High School in 1968. She then attended school for X-Ray Technician and worked for Brown Clinic. In 1975 Judy moved to Rapid City, SD.
On August 27, 1977, Judy was united in marriage to Paul Salverson in South Shore. To this union three children were born, Nick, Kristen and Stacey. Paul and Judy moved to Watertown in 2000, where they were currently residing. She worked for Premier Bankcard until her retirement in 2013. Judy enjoyed being out at the family farm, and spending time with her family, especially babysitting her granddaughter, Remi.
Judy is survived by her husband, Paul of Watertown; her children: Nick Salverson of Sioux Falls, SD, Kristen Salverson (Daren Hoffer) of Colman, SD and Stacey Salverson (Kelly Zahrbock) of Big Stone City, SD; one granddaughter, Remi Hoffer; two brothers, Randy (Rita) Schmeling and Joey Schmeling, both of South Shore, SD; one sister, Janet Pray of Moorhead, MN; her step-grandchildren; her in-laws; and her nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister-in-law, Barb Pelton.
