Kayla Jean Even, age 30, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown from a short battle with cancer surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Watertown on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 10:30 a.m.
Rev. Sara Nelson and Pastor Scott Dempster will officiate.
The family is requested to meet at the church at 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service. Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, from 4-7 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of Kayla's former co-workers at Human Service Agency and Dakota Bodies.
Active pallbearers will be Ryan Ching, Dell Felstet, Aaron Even, Jason Even, Steve Anderson, Tim Olson and Ryan Roling. Kayla was born on December 25, 1987, in Webster, SD, to Brent Felstet and Julia (Anderson) Felstet.
Kayla was baptized and attended Henry United Methodist Church.
She graduated from Henry High School in 2007 and began working at the Human Service Agency. On March 24, 2008, she gave birth to her and Matthew's daughter, Mariedith.
On November 11, 2011, Kayla and Matthew Even were married and they made their home in Watertown, SD, as she continued to work for the Human Service Agency.
In February of 2018, she started working for Dakota Bodies as an assembler, which she loved. Kayla was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend.
Everyone that met Kayla grew to love her.
She was funny, outgoing, spontaneous and always ready for an adventure.
She loved reading, music, movies, cooking for her family and craft projects with her mom.
She enjoyed performing with Karing Kapers, participating in the Polar Plunge, and volunteering at Relay For Life and Walk A Mile In Her Shoes.
She loved LuLaRoe, animals, Hello Kitty, Disney, all things Halloween, was an avid Pokémon hunter and loved to play all games.
Most of all, she fiercely loved her family and friends. Kayla is survived by her husband, Matt, of Watertown; one daughter, Mariedith, of Watertown, SD; her mom and dad, Julia and Steve Rausch of Watertown, SD; her father, Brent Felstet of Wisconsin; one brother, Dell Felstet of Watertown; two sisters, Oriel (Ryan) Ching of Watertown, SD and Crystal Hoodie of Bemidji, MN; her paternal grandmother, Audrey Rausch of Watertown; her paternal grandparents, Wardell and Doris Felstet, of Mizpah, MN; her father-in-law and mother-in law, David and Georgia Even of Watertown; her brothers and sisters-in-laws'; and her nieces and nephews. Kayla was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Edith and Lyle Post and LeRoy Anderson; her paternal grandfather, Roger Rausch; and her uncle, Jason Anderson.
