Laura Thingelstad Obituary
Laura L. "Winnie" Thingelstad, age 33, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018, at her residence, after her courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018, at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown. Rev. Janet Miller will officiate. Music will be provided by Marcia Jelsma as organist with Kathy Alwin as soloist.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at Highmore Cemetery, Highmore, SD. Active pallbearers will be: Josh Thingelstad, Pete Thingelstad, Jake Thingelstad, Tom Myers, Steve Hahn and Mike Kool.
Laura was born on March 1, 1984, to Robert and Denise (Ehlers) Thingelstad, in Pierre, SD. She was raised on a farm south of Holabird, SD. Laura attended school in Highmore before graduating from Watertown High School in 2002. Laura's son, Fox, was born in 2006. Laura worked various jobs, including working at thrift stores (which prompted her love for everything vintage), before she was a stay-at-home mom, and did quilting and seamstress work in Watertown.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Laura enjoyed sewing, doing crafts, and spending time with her friends. She always put her friends' and family's needs before her own. She had a great love for animals. Her special love was for her son, Fox.
Laura is survived by her son, Fox; her significant other, Pat Witte of Northville, SD and his children, Katie, Abby and Nick; her mother, Denise Thingelstad of Watertown, SD; her brothers: Josh Thingelstad of Pierre, SD, Pete (Melanie)Thingelstad of Parker, SD, and Jake (Carrie) Thingelstad of Sioux Falls, SD; her maternal grandfather, O. Kirk Ehlers of Sioux Falls, SD; her nephew Ian Thingelstad; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Thingelstad; her paternal grandparents, Helmer and Lucy Thingelstad; her maternal grandmother, Lois Ehlers; and her uncle, Ralph Thingelstad.
