What To Do
Lawrence L. “Larry” Fiebelkorn, age 87, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at the V.A. Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Rev. Janet Miller will officiate. The family is requested to meet at the chapel on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. for a prayer service.
Visitation will take place prior to services at the chapel on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown, SD. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Frank H. Adams Post #750 of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Watertown, the Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion, Watertown, and the Military Funeral Honors Team of the SD Army National Guard. Pallbearers will be Dan Fjerstad, Buck Fjerstad, Jeremy Ness and Tom McHenry.
Larry was born on August 25, 1931, in Summit, SD, to Max and Ida (Abraham) Fiebelkorn. He graduated high school and entered the United States Army.
Larry did carpentry work for Watertown Sash and Door and Jordan Millwork. Larry and Betty met and later moved to Alaska. The couple married on May 22, 1981. He continued carpentry work there until the couple moved to Hartford, SD, in 1985. Larry worked for the City of Hartford before retiring. Following retirement, the couple made their home in Watertown, SD. They spent over 40 years together.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle and bingo, and taking a chance on pull-tabs. In his spare time, Larry enjoyed fishing, doing carpentry work and remodeling things.
Larry is survived by his wife, Betty of Watertown, SD; his children: Kandra (Mike) Ness, Lonny (Lori) Fiebelkorn, Kristi (Bruce) Luckhurst and Rob (Twyla) Fjerstad, all of Watertown, SD, and Carla (Thomas) McHenry of Hartford, SD; and nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Larry Fiebelkorn and James Fjerstad; one granddaughter, Anna; and ten siblings.
