Layne Diaz Obituary
Layne D. Diaz, age 22, of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018, at his residence. A Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Watertown, SD. Fr. Michael Wensing will be the celebrant.
Music will be provided by Jane Rokusek as organist with Blaine Martian as soloist. The family is requested to meet by 9:30 a.m. at the church to attend the service.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Scripture Wake Service at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will also be prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Watertown. Active pallbearers will be: Samantha Becht, Alyssa Cassels, Alexandra Becht, Addyson Diaz, Kyla Diaz, Gabriel Diaz and Avelina Diaz.
Layne was born on November 24, 1995, in Yankton, SD. He attended Watertown High School and attained his GED. Layne was currently working in construction in Sioux Falls and saving to attend college, where he wanted to go into Architectural Engineering.
He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Layne enjoyed playing disc golf, working with tools and fishing with his grandpa, Don. He loved playing card games and board games. Layne mostly enjoyed spending time with all of his family.
Layne is survived by his parents, Dan and Kim Diaz; his brother, Jeremiah Diaz; his maternal grandparents, Don and Judy Becht, all of Watertown; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Manuel Diaz and Bonny Diaz.
