Leslie M. "Les" Lemke

February 4, 1961 ~ June 9, 2018 (age 57)

Leslie M. “Les” Lemke, age 57, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN, as a result of a motorcycle accident in Litchfield, MN. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018, at Beckville Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Mindy Czycalla will officiate.

Visitation will be held at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Friday, June 15, 2018, from 4-7 p.m.

A private burial will be at Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield, MN. Honorary pallbearers will be: Roger Stimson, Dean Jacobson, Chad Voelsch, Matt Dargatz, Dean Benthin, Justin Heyn, Bradley Heyn, Adam Heyn, Dewayne Jensen, Arlin Dahlin, and Justin ”Hootie” Glanzer. Active pallbearers are: Don Walker, Brad Bipes, Terry Heyn, Al Lemke, Rick Hoff and Gauge Laidlaw.

Les was born on February 4, 1961, to Richard and Emily (Matteson) Lemke, in Litchfield, MN. He attended Litchfield High School and then started farming with Brad Bipes in the Litchfield area. Les later started working as a welder at Angus Palm Industries.

On September 15, 1995, Les was united in marriage to Merry Kusler, whom he met in Minnesota. The couple continued to make their home in Watertown and Les worked at Worthington Industries. He also worked with Heyner Welding “doing it all”. Les was a jack of all trades, master of all! He enjoyed riding his Harley and riding with all of his buddies. Les also enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially spending time with his family and his camping family.

Les is survived by his wife, Merry, of Watertown, SD; his children: Kelly Klobes, of Litchfield, MN, and Moriah Laidlaw (Rick Hoff) of Watertown, SD; three grandchildren: Taylor, Gauge and Briggs; his father, Richard Lemke, of Litchfield, MN; one brother, Alan (Charlotte) Lemke, of Litchfield, MN; one sister, Dawn (Jerry) Weyrauch, of Litchfield, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Emily, and his step-mother, Evelyn.
