Linda Pietz Obituary
Linda E. Pietz, age 89, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at the local hospital. She was the widow of Ivan Pietz. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at Hosanna Lutheran Church. Pastor Craig Werling and Pastor Janine Rew-Werling will officiate. The family is requested to meet at the church by 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Monday from 5-7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be at
the church on Tuesday, prior to the service.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the residents of "Easy Street" and the staff at Jenkins Living Center. Active pallbearers are: Travis Baum, Kerwin Pietz, Mark Schelske, Matt Schelske, Kevin Fuerst and Nick Pietz.
Linda was born on April 3, 1930, to Rudolph and Erna (Weisz) Kurtz, in rural Delmont, SD. She attended rural schools. On August 29, 1948, Linda was united in marriage to Ivan Pietz in Delmont, SD. Linda was a homemaker, working at home and taking care of the family. They moved to various locations, as Ivan was building churches. In 1970, the couple moved to Watertown and Linda started working for Duane at Proud Angler Bait Shop.
She was a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church. She enjoyed fishing with Ivan. Linda also enjoyed gardening, neighborhood get-togethers, and cooking, especially for her family.
Linda is survived by her son, Duane (Diane) Pietz of Watertown, SD; four grandchildren: April Pietz, Nicole (Keith) Eischens, Keith Pietz, and Nick Pietz; four great-grandchildren, Bailey Neuhauser, Elizabeth Pietz, Ethan Eischens and Chase Eischens; two brothers, Norman Kurtz of Boston, MA and Milbert (Jan) Jurtz of Mooresville, NC; and her sister, Lorraine Schelske of Delmont, SD.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan; her daughter, Kathy Pietz; and two brothers, Edward and Wilmer.
