What To Do
Maj. LuAnn E. Larson, age 64, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018, at a local care center. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Watertown. Rev. Kent Stillson will officiate. Music will be provided by A. J. Sherrill as organist with the LCOOR Choir. The family is requested to meet by 10:00 a.m. at the church on Tuesday for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be on Monday at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel from 4 to 7 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at Falnes Lutheran Cemetery, rural Langford, SD. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Henry Osness Post #141 of the American Legion, Langford, and the Funeral Honors Team of the SD Army National Guard. Active pallbearers will be: Bob Hanson, Bob Hastings, Matt Moran, Skip Larson, Ryan Hanson, Brandon Hastings and Adam Moran.
LuAnn was born on June 6, 1953, to Luther and Vivian (Rosser) Larson in Britton, SD. She graduated from Langford High School in 1971 and from South Dakota State University in 1975. LuAnn entered the U.S. Army after graduation and was stationed throughout the United States and Germany. She also received a Masters Degree in Journalism from the University of Minnesota, before retiring as a Major after 20 years of service. She began her second career teaching Junior ROTC near Sacramento, CA, and retired after 12 years. She returned to South Dakota in 2008 and loved living at the lake in Watertown.
She was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer and the American Legion. LuAnn enjoyed playing her tenor saxophone, and was a member of the Watertown Community Band. She also enjoyed traveling and singing in her church choir. LuAnn’s faith was very strong.
LuAnn is survived by her father, Luther Larson, of Langford, SD; her brother, Luther “Skip” Larson, of Langford, SD; her sisters: Liz (Bob) Hanson of Watertown, SD, Robin (Matt) Moran of Huron, SD, and Sandy (Bob) Hastings, of Britton, SD.
She was preceded in death by her mother and her infant brother, William.
