Olga Lenander Obituary
Olga G. Lenander, age 97 1/2, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018, at a Watertown Rehab care center. She was the widow of Andy Lenander. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pastor Steve Biswell will officiate. Music will be provided by Sue Heavey as organist with Dennis and Sue Heavey as vocalists.
Visitation will be held at the chapel on Sunday prior to the service.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Pallbearers will be: Ronnie Gorder, Mike Gorder, Duane Gorder, David Gorder, Jeff Watt and Warren Graham.
Olga was born on December 15, 1920, in Estelline, SD, to Martin and Cecelia (Floden) Gorder. She was a graduate of Estelline High School and attended college at Madison Normal, receiving a Teaching Certificate. She taught in Madison SD and other rural schools for five years.
On June 1, 1942, Olga was married to Andy Lenander in San Diego, CA. Andy was drafted during WWII and served four years with a two-year assignment in Calcutta, India. During the separation Olga worked as an electrical inspector for Western Electrics Defense Plant in Lincoln, NE. After WWII they began farming near Astoria, SD, and completed 40 years before retiring to Watertown. During their four decades of farming, they were often noted as "Outstanding In their Fields".
They worshipped at Blom Prairie Church in Toronto, SD, under several pastors and mentors. They were involved as Sunday School teachers, committee leaders and Home Prayer meetings, serving and "Growing in Grace and Love in the knowledge of their Lord".
Olga is survived by her children: Larry, Gary, Celia and her favorite son in law Richard Ness. She was blessed with four grandchildren Marisa, Nicole, Joshua and Richard III aka Elliott and six great-grandchildren. She is the last of her integral family, survived by three sisters-in-law: Helen (Donald) Gorder, Joyce (Richard) Gorder and Sue (Martin Adolph) Gorder.
