Ray Lantgen Obituary
Raymond C. "Ray" Lantgen, age 83, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019, after a long illness.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Father Michael Wensing will preside.
Music will be provided by Laura Atwood as organist.
The family is requested to meet at the chapel by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service. Visitation will take place prior to funeral services on Wednesday beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Watertown. Ray was born on October 13, 1935, in Watertown, SD, to Albert and Margaret (Mack) Lantgen.
He worked on the farm until 18 years of age.
He then moved to Watertown and took a civil service test for the Watertown Fire Department.
He was the Assistant Chief for many years.
Ray also owned and operated B&L Appliance and Small Engine Repair. On June 18, 1953, Ray married Peggy Plowman in Estelline, SD.
The couple made their home in Watertown. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.
Ray enjoyed outdoor activities. Ray is survived by his children: Dennis (Shari) Lantgen of Broomfield, CO, Nancy Moder, Debbie (John) Holley, Rick Lantgen and Rod (Cindy) Moes, all of Watertown, SD; his grandchildren: Brant Kannas, Jill (Ben) Brewster, Robbie Moder, Andy Holley, Jay (Kassie) Lantgen, Stephanie Lantgen, Breanna Hemiller and Quinn and Brenn Lantgen; and his great-grandchildren: Keely, Kensley and Jax Lantgen, Lydia and Alexander Brewster and Bekett and Smith Hemiller. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; his parents, Albert and Margaret; and one grandson, Brian Kannas.
