Stephanie A. Birney, age 47, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at her residence. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in **Waubay, SD . The celebrant will be Fr. Paul Rutten. Music will be provided by Kathy Hardina as organist.
Visitation will be at the church in **Waubay on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Scripture Wake service. Visitation will continue prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Burial will take place at the Waubay Catholic Cemetery in Waubay. Honorary pallbearers will be all of "Stephanie's family" at Jenkins Living Center and all of her aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be: Spenser Birney, Bryan Birney, Tom Lesnar, Nick Lesnar, Scott Nelson and Dennis Sapp.
Stephanie was born on August 4, 1969, at Webster, SD, to Dale and Yvonne (Lesnar) Birney. She graduated from Waubay High School in 1987. Stephanie attended NSU, Aberdeen, SD, for two years and then moved with her sister, Sheila, to Watertown where she started working at Midcom and then Pacific Coast Feather. Later, Stephanie went to work at McDonalds until ill health forced her to retire. She continued to make Watertown her home.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. Stephanie enjoyed playing cards and Bingo. She also enjoyed reading and collecting ceramics. Stephanie was known as the family jokester. She loved spending time with her family, especially with her nieces and nephews. She also loved all dogs, especially Lily.
Stephanie is survived by her parents, Dale and Yvonne of
Waubay; two brothers, Steve Birney of Lake Norden, SD, and Scott (Angie) Birney of Hayti, SD; two sisters, Kathy Birney and her significant other, Dennis Sapp, and Sheila Birney and her significant other, Scott Nelson, all of Watertown; her maternal grandmother, Jeanette Lesnar, of Webster; and her nieces and nephews: Bryan Birney, Spenser Birney, Shelby Torstenson, Savanah Davis, Kolby Davis, Kaden Davis and Rachel Birney.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Keith; her maternal grandfather, Frank Lesnar; and her paternal grandparents, Ronald and Inez Birney.
