Caroline Aker Obituary
On Thursday, April 16, 2020, Caroline Jean Aker, loving wife of Ronald and mother of three children, passed away at age 86. Private family funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel. Rev. Sara Nelson will officiate.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Michael Aker, Dustin Aker, Eric Vostad, Lillie Vostad, Lane Vostad and Hailee Lindgren.
Caroline was born on July 21, 1933, to Harrison and Ida (Mortenson) Mitchell, in Summit, SD. She was the youngest of ten children. Caroline was a graduate of Summit High School. On October 18, 1953, she was united in marriage to Ronald Aker. They were married for 66 years.
She worked many jobs throughout her young life, eventually retiring in 1996 from Watertown Municipal Utilities. Caroline enjoyed country western music, collecting antiques, baking and chocolate shakes. She was a wonderful mother and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Caroline is survived by her husband, Ronald; her children, Kent Aker, Michael Aker and Kathy Nawroth; four grandchildren: Stephanie (Eric) Vostad, Amber Aker, Dustin Aker and Hailee Lindgren; three great-grandchildren: Lillie, Lane and Presley; two sisters, Lois Cotten and Phyllis (Clifford) Aker; one sister-in-law, Ila Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, James (Amy), Stanley (Helen) and Paul; and four sisters, Alice (Vernon) Adolphsen, Iola (Vernon) Long, Evelyn (Art) Drovdal and Pauline (Vernon) Jensen; five brothers-in-law, Hollis Cotten, Alton Aker, Murel (Jane) Aker, Harold (Loreen) Aker and Alvin (Elaine) Aker; and her in-laws, Albert (Lillie) Aker.
She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
