Coleen M. Bailey

Coleen M. Bailey, age 85, of Watertown, SD, passed away Friday, November 20, 2020, at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, due to complications from COVID infection.   A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday July 13, 2021 at Cornerstone Church in Watertown, SD with Rev. Luke Smith officiating.  Interment was at Highland Lutheran Cemetery in Brandt, SD.

Coleen was born in Hendricks, MN on May 21, 1935.  She grew up on her folk’s farm in the Clear Lake, SD area and she attended high school in Estelline, SD.  She married C. Howard Wiesner in 1954 and had 3 children.  She later divorced and married Eldon Bailey on June 1, 1963 and they made their home in Watertown.

Coleen was a nurse at the Watertown Brown Clinic for many years.  Later she worked at the Clear Lake Good Samaritan Nursing Home.  She was a member of Cornerstone Church in Watertown.  She enjoyed flowers of all types but especially roses.  Early in life she enjoyed camping and outdoor activities with her family.  She had a beautiful spirit and generous nature and she especially loved visiting friends over a cup of coffee.

Coleen is survived by her 3 children; David Wiesner of Brookings, SD, Diane (Wes) Schick of Littleton, CO, and Dallas (Priscilla) Wiesner of Pleasant Prairie, WI; and 4 half siblings Gary, Mark, Brian and Marla.  Her brother, Orlan Hendrickson, died 4 weeks later on December 19, 2020.  She was preceded in death by husband Eldon Bailey and parents Art and Harriet Zischke and Orvin Hendrickson.
