Dianne Nielsen Obituary

 

Dianne I. Nielsen, age 73, of Marvin, SD, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at the Ortonville Hospital in Ortonville, MN. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at the Hope Lutheran Church in Summit, SD. Rev. Janet Miller will officiate. Music will be provided by Val Moen as organist with DeVerne and Jan Rickard as soloists. The family is requested to meet at the church by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service. The services will be Live-streamed from the Crawford-Osthus Facebook page.

 

Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD, on Friday from 5-7 p.m.

 

Burial will be at the Ortley Cemetery in Ortley, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be Dianne’s grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Roger Smith, Rodney Smith, Richard Kohn, Robert Kohn, Bradley Kohn, and Allen Kohn.

 

Dianne I. Meyer was born on November 21, 1947, in Waubay, SD, to Albert and Ida (Martel) Meyer. She graduated in 1966 from Summit High School. Dianne married Roy Nielsen 0n November 5, 1966, in Summit, SD, and then the couple moved to Big Stone, SD, where Dianne worked at the Canning Factory. The couple later moved to Marvin, SD, and Dianne went to work at the US Post Office, where she clerked part-time for many years.

 

She was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church. Dianne loved to play Bingo, going to the Casino and quilting. She also had a deep love for animals, especially stray cats and dogs.

 

Dianne’s family was very important to her. They labeled her as the Super Glue of the family. She also stood up for what she believed in.

 

Dianne is survived by her husband, Roy Nielsen; her two children, Connie Dockter, of Watertown, SD and Richard Nielsen, of Reno, NV; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her brother, Terry Meyer, of Watertown, SD; her sisters, Linda (Alan) DeLong, of Bolivar, MO, and Anita (Scott) Clark, of Bryant, SD.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Larry Meyer.
