Doris was born on June 1, 1931, to Walt and Inga (Jorgensen) Emmert, in Henry, SD. As a child she suffered a bone infection in her hip which resulted in her having one leg shorter than the other. Doris attended Watertown High School and was chosen as the KIYI princess in 1949. Our mom was beautiful! Doris married Gilbert Kittelson on February 11, 1951. They had four children: Ken, Steve, Connie and Cindy. Doris always enjoyed music, she sang in the senior choir and directed children's choir for many years. She sang with the Sweet Adelines. Doris spent her younger days at home raising four kids, then she was an office clerk for many years. She also spent many years helping out and entertaining her grandkids. They remember riding with grandma in her Chevy Caprice and doing Mary Lou's in the mall parking lot. They would stop at grandma's house while out riding bikes and get fresh cookies out of the oven. They played Hide and Seek and were very surprised to find grandma under the bed. Abbey said," Grandma taught me how to pray." Doris always expressed her hope that her kids and grandkids would know the Lord Jesus so we could all meet again in Heaven someday. Doris married Robert Quigley in 1988. She spent the last eight years of her life in the nursing home. She is survived by her children: Steve (Cindy Lou) Kittelson, Henry, SD, Connie (Rick) Masloski, Watertown, SD, and Cindy Engels, Brandon, SD, her daughter-in-law, Glenda Kittelson, Henry, SD; her sister Helen (Tuffy) Gisselbeck of Watertown, SD; her brother Glen Emmert of Gettysburg, SD; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walt and Inga Emmert; her son, Ken Kittelson; a great-grandchild, Isabella Fjerstad; and a sister-in-law, Janice Emmert.
