Eva Rahlf Obituary
Eva J. Rahlf, age 100, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020, at a local care center. She was the widow of LeRoy Rahlf. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at Apostolic Lutheran Church in Watertown. Rev. Reino Mauno will officiate. Music will be provided by Wanda Laue as organist. The family is requested to meet at the church by 10:00 a.m. for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, from 4-7 p.m. and also prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Josh Waltz, Brennan Yeo, John Rahlf, Kurt Rahlf, Todd Rahlf and Chris Rahlf.
Eva was born in Minneapolis, MN, on April 17, 1919. She was adopted by Glenn and Mary (Failing) Prouty. Eva attended and graduated from Watertown High School. On March 25, 1948, Eva was united in marriage to LeRoy Rahlf in Watertown. Together they moved to Bemis, SD, where she was a farm wife and where they raised their four children. After LeRoy passed away on October 25, 1985, Eva worked at JCPenneys and eventually retired from there. She was a member of Apostolic Lutheran Church, Goodwin VFW Auxiliary, Prairie Lakes Hospital Auxiliary and the Watertown Senior Center.
Eva is survived by her children:
Mary Johnson of Madison, SD, Keith (Rita) Rahlf of Watertown, SD, and Gordon (Iva Jane) Rahlf of Watertown, SD; eight grandchildren: Michele Gran, Amy Paulos, Jennifer (Brennan) Yeo, Chris Rahlf, Todd (Roxie) Rahlf, Kurt (Kristi) Rahlf, Amanda (Josh) Waltz and John (Kay) Rahlf; twelve great-grandchildren: Alexis Waltz, Paige Paulos, Taylor Waltz, Gunnar Yeo, Jaxon Rahlf, Leah Paulos, Tayten Gran, Bridger Yeo, Hailey Waltz, Riley Rahlf, Grayson Rahlf and Colby Rahlf; her special cousins Glenn and Peggy Prouty; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and many friends including Sharon Byer.
Eva is preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; her parents, Glenn and Mary; her son, Larry Rahlf; her grandson, Troy Rahlf; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Rahlf; her son-in-law, Jerry Johnson; her in-laws, John and Bertha Rahlf; her brother-in-law, Marvin Rahlf; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joe and Madeline Goens; and a special cousin, Jan Tapio.
