Evelyn Moeller Obituary
Evelyn L. Moeller, age 92, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the local hospital. Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery, Bryant, SD. Refreshments and fellowship to follow at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Rev. Paul Janke will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Evelyn's nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was born in Bryant, SD on March 27, 1928 to Orlin and Abbie (Janssen) Schamens. She attended country school at Dixon #4 and Grover Country School. She helped on the farm with milking, working the fields, and babysitting for others. Evelyn was united in marriage to Willard Moeller on April 1, 1947. The couple farmed NW of Bryant and owned a lumber yard. In 1964 they moved to Oregon to be closer to siblings, and the ladies all worked for BP John's Furniture Factory. They lived on an acreage near Aurora. They moved back to SD for a few years, but they missed Oregon, so they moved back and lived in Canby, Oregon. Evelyn also worked on an onion farm, labeling onion bags, a job she enjoyed very much.
She was active in their church, Christ Lutheran Church in Aurora, enjoyed gardening, playing cards and pinochle, but by her rules, visiting friends and relatives, and keeping books for her husband. She was a prankster with a good sense of humor.
Evelyn is survived by her three sisters-in-law, Doris Schamens, Watertown, SD, Doreen Schamens, Utah, and Virginia Schamens, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard; her parents; and her brothers and sisters: Ada Hansen, Jean Guse/Parrot, Ethel Sondergaard, Alice Moeller, Albert, Orville, Chuck and Jim Schamens.
