Frank Hanson Sr. Obituary
Frank A. Hanson Sr., age 78, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD. Pastor Carl VanVoorst will officiate. The service will be live-streamed via Crawford-Osthus Facebook page and our website. Face coverings are encouraged.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Thursday, January 21, 2020, prior to the service from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
Burial will be at a later date.
Frank A. Hanson, Sr., was born on October 10, 1942, to Edwin and Marie (Shiernbeck) Hanson, in Watertown, SD. He attended Codington County Country School and graduated from the 8th grade. He then attended Watertown High School. Frank was united in marriage to Carol Moore in January, 1959. To this union three children were born, Frank, Angela and Edwin.
In January of 1960, Frank joined the National Guard, completed his basic training at Fort Leonardwood, MO., and later received an honorable discharge.
Frank worked on farms in Castlewood and Doland, SD, He was employed at the Phillip 66 Station and also a cement plant in Watertown, SD. The rest of his career life was over the road truck driving for 35 years until he retired.
On April 11, 2011, he married Ana Martinez in San Antonio, TX. The couple moved to Lake Andes, SD, where Frank continued driving truck. In 2018, he started his own lawn care business.
In October of 2020, the couple moved to Watertown to be closer to his family.
He is survived by his wife, Ana; his son, Frank (Belinda) Hanson, Watertown, SD; his daughter, Angela (Jason) Callahan, Watertown, SD; step-daughter, Elena del Rosales Martinez, NJ; step-son, Julio Antonio Martinez, El Salvador; his half-sister, Normay (Stewart) Berglund, CO; eight grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren;
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister, brother and son, Edwin.
